Meet Mark, an elite IFMGA guide with 25 years’ experience, who’s skied all seven continents and led groundbreaking expeditions from Antarctica to the Himalaya.
Mark is an IFMGA climbing and ski guide with around 25 years of experience at HMH and is based in Wanaka. He is one of the few guides on earth to have operated several exploratory heli-skiing and ski touring expeditions in Antarctica. Mark’s an examiner for the IFGMA and leads private heli-ski and ski touring trips to all corners of the globe, including Antarctica, Greenland, New Zealand, Norway, India, Argentina and Morocco. He has climbed the world’s Seven Summits, skied the seven continents and was the first person to climb and ski the Queenstown Lakes District’s 18 mountains over 2,500m. Mark has guided 20 ski and climbing expeditions to Antarctica and another 20 expeditions to the Himalaya including summiting Mt Everest. In 2018, Mark joined a kite-skiing expedition to climb one of the most remote mountains on Earth, Mt Spectre in the Gothic Range of the Transantarctic Mountains. They spent 60 days in Antarctica, travelling over 2,000km with loads nearing 200kgs each. He is a passionate photographer, sailor and adventurer.
